FIGHTING FANTAZINE

Issue 3 of the Fighting Fantazine is out now. Don't forget to fill out the survey which closes July 2nd 2010

Wow, Wow and Wow. Wonders never cease to amaze me. Thanks to Andy (greyarea13) from the Titan Rebuilding Yahoo forum for the finds below.

"Inside the poster book was a four page pamphlet (basically a folded piece of A3 poster paper). On the front is an intro plug of text for Return to Firetop Mountain and Shadowmaster, celebrating FF's 10th anniversary. The back page has a list of the first 50 FF titles and mini bios on Ian and Steve.

The middle two pages however feature a poster version of Terry Oakes' cover for the 10th Anniversary Yearbook, complete with Hell Demon, Caarth, Minotaur, Shapechanger, Fangtiger, Flying Fish of Ilklala, Fog Devil, Giant Sand Worm and Dragon. It looks amazing at this size and is just as good as the actual posters in the poster book."

UPDATE: Apologies to everyone, I have shown below that Night of the Necromancer was no.7 but it is in fact no.8, Bloodbones is No.7. I will change the site throughout. This has now been corrected on the official site also.

The April 2010 Fighting Fantasy Newsletter from Wizard Books is out now.
  • Take a look at this video of some plank taking the mickey out of the books.
  • Great artwork from Phantoms of Fear cover by Ian Miller.
  • Viceland.com interview with Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone (WARNING: risqué site content)
Out February 2010 are Creature of Havoc (no.5) City of Thieves (no.6) of series 2, but most exciting of all is the long awaited  and completely new Night of the Necromancer (no.7) by Jonathan Green, out in April 2010. Expect also to see Howl of the Werewolf to be added as number 11 and Armies of Death as number 12.

Watch the awesome trailer Jonathan has prepared to whet the appetite!

If you haven't seen them yet, here is a link to the October, November (not sure what happened to the December one) and  January 2010,February 2010, NEWMarch 2010 newsletters from www.fightingfantasy.com (tip: the only way of getting them before seeing them here is to subscribe to the site)
January 2010 Here are a couple of photos of 2 new Clarecraft additions to my collection that I received from my wife for Christmas. The Minotaur and Zagor were both obtained from Mark Ayling whom used work for Clarecraft before they closed shop for good. The letter shown here accompanied the figurines and states that the Warlock (Zagor) one is an original paint sample used at Clarecraft.

Warlock of Firetop Mountain was released on iPhone Christmas 2009 for £2.99. I think it is time I got an iPhone or will I? Are you going to give this a miss in favour of playing the books? Let me know what you think.  Rumours are that Deathtrap Dungeon will be released as well in 2010 among other titles yet to be confirmed including Return to Firetop Mountain and a Sorcery! app.
Take a peek at some artwork by Martin Mckenna for the latest title 'Night of the Necromancer' to be released in April 2010.
A few pictures and a write-up of my day at the gaming convention GAMESFEST 4 on 24th October 2009
If you haven't done so already take a visit to Unnatural History: The online presence of writer Jonathan Green (author of Stormslayer and many other FF titles)

WARLOCK OF FIRETOP MOUNTAIN COMING TO NINTENDO DS OCTOBER 2009 (UK release date unannounced.)     NEW I was luck enough to be sent a free pre-order copy by Aspyr as an early Christmas present. Still playing it and will try and get a review written one day.

See the promo teaser of Stormslayer by Jonathan Green on YouTube

Artwork of Stormslayer showing spine and back re-design, the actual books are silvery grey not red, they are also embossed.  The books will be published in a larger B format and a change to the gaming format inside, also featuring pre-rolled characters.

Expect to see more new titles (Night of the Necromancer April 2010) and a re-release of some of the original titles with a new shield design. It is being called Series 2 and the books are in a different order again. The following is anticipated:

  1. Warlock of Firetop Mountain,

  2. Citadel of Chaos

  3. Deathtrap Dungeon

  4. Stormslayer (New)

  5. Creature of Havoc

  6. City of Thieves

  7. Night of the Necromancer (Apr 10)

    1. Bloodbones
    2. House of Hell
    3. Eye of the Dragon
